Clear, Transparent Information About the Cost of Care

We believe you should understand the financial side of treatment before getting started. Our team is happy to answer questions about fees, insurance reimbursement, and payment options so you can make an informed decision about your care.

Investing in High-Quality, Specialized Care

At the DBT Center of Illinois, treatment is provided by clinicians with specialized training in evidence-based therapies. Our services are designed to provide more than general supportive therapy—we focus on structured, research-supported treatment tailored to each client’s needs.

Fees vary depending on the service, clinician, and level of care recommended. We will review the applicable rates with you before treatment begins so there are no surprises.

Insurance & Reimbursement

We Are an Out-of-Network Practice

The DBT Center of Illinois does not participate as an in-network provider with insurance companies.

Depending on your insurance plan, however, you may have out-of-network mental health benefits that reimburse you for a portion of the cost of treatment.

Upon request, we can provide a superbill containing the information you may need to submit a claim to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Because every insurance plan is different, we recommend contacting your insurance company directly to understand your specific out-of-network benefits.

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company

When speaking with your insurer, you may want to ask:

  • Does my plan include out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health services?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it has been met?
  • After I meet my deductible, what percentage of the allowed amount will my plan reimburse?
  • Is there a limit on the number of outpatient mental health sessions covered?
  • Are telehealth services eligible for out-of-network reimbursement?
  • Do I need preauthorization or a referral?
  • How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?

Please note: Providing a superbill does not guarantee that your insurance company will reimburse you. Coverage and reimbursement are determined by your individual insurance plan.

Rates

Treatment Designed Around Your Needs

The cost of treatment depends on the type of service and clinician providing care.

Individual Therapy

Rates vary based on clinician experience and level of training.

DBT Skills Groups

Group fees vary depending on the program and format.

Comprehensive DBT

Comprehensive DBT typically includes individual therapy, DBT skills training, between-session phone coaching, and treatment delivered by clinicians who participate in a DBT consultation team. We will explain the expected costs as part of the consultation process.

Psychological Testing & Assessment

Assessment fees vary based on the referral question, complexity of the evaluation, testing required, and time necessary for scoring, interpretation, feedback, and report preparation. You will receive information about the anticipated cost before beginning an evaluation.

Other Services

Rates for RO-DBT, couples therapy, parent-focused services, consultation, and other specialized services vary depending on the service provided.

Lower-Cost Treatment Options

Expanding Access Through Training

We do not offer a traditional sliding-scale fee structure. However, as part of our doctoral-level training programs, we may be able to offer treatment with advanced trainees at a reduced rate.

Trainees receive supervision and work within the DBT Center of Illinois treatment model, allowing us to expand access to evidence-based care while maintaining a high standard of clinical oversight.

Availability is limited and depends on the service needed and current training placements.

Payment Options

Payment is due at the time services are provided unless another arrangement has been made in advance.

We accept major forms of payment, and clients may also be able to use Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds for eligible services. Please check with your HSA or FSA administrator regarding eligibility.

Cancellation Policy

Your Appointment Time Is Reserved for You

We require at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged the applicable cancellation fee. Insurance companies generally do not reimburse for missed appointments or late-cancellation fees.
